Why we’re here
Bubble Boy Laundry is a family business. Ben opened it in 2021 with his parents, and it’s still the family running it today. Ben has lived in Sunshine his whole life and knew exactly what the old laundromats around here got wrong: dim rooms, coin slots that jammed, machines you weren’t sure had been cleaned, and nowhere to fold.
The idea was simple: build the laundry we’d be happy to send our own family to. A place that’s bright at 6am and bright at 10pm, where the machines are big enough for a doona, the floor is clean enough to put a basket down on, and nobody has to hunt for a handful of coins.
So we took a shop on Foundry Road, Sunshine, and did it properly — bright lights, air conditioning, a neon sign in the window, long steel folding tables, coin slots on every machine plus a card kiosk for anyone without change, and machines that get cleaned and disinfected every night. Regulars still tell us it’s the cleanest laundry they’ve used, and we intend to keep it that way.
The name? A bit of fun. Laundry is a chore nobody looks forward to, so the least we can do is make the place cheerful — hence the mascot, the bubbles, and the sign that lights up the street at night.
What’s different
Long folding tables. Steel tables run the length of the shop, so you fold a whole basket in one go instead of balancing it on a warm dryer.
Coins or card, your choice. Feed coins straight into the machine, or tap your card, Apple Pay or Google Pay at the kiosk, pick your machine number, press START. Out of change at 9pm? The change machine swaps notes for coins. A dollar buys eight minutes of heat in the dryers.
Open 6am to 11pm, every day. Before work, after the kids are down, Sundays, public holidays. If the sign is on, we’re open.
Happy Hour. 50% off, 7pm–9pm Tuesday & Wednesday — the same wash for half the price, if you can pick your night.
Who we are
Ben and his parents — a small local family, not a franchise. Between us we cover the early opens, the late closes and everything in between. You’ll see us on the floor wiping down machines, restocking the detergent refill station, and loading the van for the day’s pick-ups. When you ring 0466 279 189, a person in the shop answers. When you book a collection, the same people wash, fold and bring it back the next day.
We live around here, we shop around here, and a lot of our customers are neighbours. That’s the standard we work to: if it wouldn’t be good enough for someone we know, it isn’t good enough.

Bubble Boy Laundry is an independent coin laundry at G04, 1 Foundry Road, Sunshine VIC 3020, in Melbourne’s west. The shop is self-service — the machines take coins, or you pay by card at the kiosk — open Every day 6am – 11pm, including weekends and public holidays. Washers start at $6 a load, dryers from $1, and Happy Hour runs 50% off, 7pm–9pm Tuesday & Wednesday. We also offer laundry pick-up and delivery: wash and fold from $30 per 5kg and ironing from $3.15 per item, collected from your door and returned the next day for a $15 delivery fee.
